Ad Hoc Committee for Academic Advancement Updates

Academic Advancement Summary Update from the February 13, 2025, meeting. Assemblyman William Magnarelli, Assembly District 129, has introduced our bill to this year’s Assembly. Bill number is A00236.

July 2024 update – The committee met with Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy’s legislative representatives to discuss the movement of the bill towards a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy.

The Borough of Manhattan Community College Advisory Board were supportive, especially with the new language of the bill.

May update from the Ad Hoc Team is advancing the academic requirements for RTs. This supports their significant role in managing complex cardiopulmonary disorders and aligns with current medical advancements.

The NYSSRC Ad Hoc Committee persists in advancing respiratory care in NY, retaining legislative sponsors and seeking meetings with key educational offices for support.
