Stony Brook RT Students answer the call of Volunteerism

by Jim Ganetis, MS, RRT- NPS

We continue to be very encouraging of professional involvement. For example, our junior class held a bake sale and raised $400 to support the American Lung Association (ALA).

Then during Spring break, one group of junior students volunteered at the ALA’s Fight For Air Climb located at One Penn Plaza (57 floor skyscraper) in Manhattan, New York on March 21.  Students set up up water and rest stops, greeted and assisted in guiding the climbers, and being “Firefighter Gear Checkers” assuring that the firefighters doing the climb met the equipment check list.

On March 25 another group of junior students volunteered for the American Lung Association’s Lung Force Expo in New York City  and attended the professional lectures given.
